Intercultural Mom’s Club on-Line Session #3

The third session was held on February 24th.
Three new members joined the club. In addition, we welcomed an experienced SENPAI mom as a guest speaker who works at the Iwate Prefectural Assembly, and discussed “Work-Life Balance”.

The biggest concern for moms who are wishing to go back to work is how to manage the time for the apparently limitless to-do list: taking care of children, cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing etc and the job. The guest mom asserts that the most important thing is to secure cooperation from your partner and understanding from the people around you by keeping good communication.

One of the participants described, “The advice that the guest mom gave was encouraging: to research and use the public support programs without hesitation.” She also said she realized one important perspective: raising a child is not only a mom’s work and it is okay to rely on a partner, family or even a community through the existing public supports.

The Intercultural Mom’s Club will continue in the next two sessions by receiving voices from the participants, “Happy to meet other moms and talk in English!”
The next session will be on March 10th, welcoming another new club member.

The facilitator Ms. Masumitsu also a mom of a one-year-old baby raising him in English in Iwate.
